There are lots of how to blogs and videos on how to do stuff. Pinterest and You Tube are amazing resources. So, my new blog is really nothing new. It’s nothing new, except it’s me, and my adventures will be different from anyone else. I’ve been thinking of doing this for a long time. Prior to now I’ve been running a pretty stealth job hunt. I have decided it’s time to not be so stealth and tell others what I’m doing, how I’m doing, and why I’m doing this. I’ve been reflecting and job searching now for almost 2 years. I’ve been seriously looking since June of 2016 and even more frantic since October of this year.
I’m still in the thick of it. It’s been a real adventure–full of frustration, growth, fast cars, and LOTS of slamming on brakes and reversing. It’s also taken a whole lot longer than any other time I’ve looked for a new job. I’ve found that most employers are not looking for middle-aged white women to fill their positions.
If you haven’t looked for a job in the last 10 years, you may not know that Human Resources have changed. Honestly, often I find that Human Resources Departments are neither human, nor are they resourceful (towk amongst ya-selves for a minute on that topic). They are more a way to figure out how to reel you in (or weed you out) and sell you a pig in a poke.
It’s kind of a long story, and I won’t bore you with all the details, but take a look–especially if you’re in the need of a reinvention yourself, and stay with me. It’s a journey that’s still in progress.
